What is Identity?

Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival

3-13 June, 2021

Thessaloniki Queer Arts Festival (TQAF) is a grassroots initiative that sets out to alter deeply entrenched misconceptions and prejudices toward the queer and LGBTQIA+ community through artistic and cultural practices. This year’s edition under the title “What is Identity?” explores themes of performed identity, colonialism, lived histories, trans experience and the ever-changing and dynamic construction of the self, through various artistic approaches. The issues that the artists examine revolve around body and identity politics, queerness and trans experience, violence and sexual abuse, immigration and marginalization, ace spectrum, and the stereotypical misperceptions about gender, body, and sexuality.
