Cracked Histories
24-27 June, 2021
Group exhibition, workshop & online events.
Cracked Histories is an exhibition featuring a triptych of ephemeral audiovisual and sound installations, developed by members of the AUTH Experimental and Improvised Music Ensembles (σ.π.Α.Μ.*) and Critical Music Histories study group from spring 2020 till summer 2021. In the aftersound of a pervasive digital year that seems to flow with no sense of beginning or end, noise:muse 2021 focuses on degradable, fragile materialities of sound, exploring “cracked” media and highlighting glorious cracks. A multitude of noises hidden in scraps of old records, reconstructed and read as a score. A fragmentary audio diary, capturing the resonances that developed between listening voices, searching for music in the cracks between grand narratives. A portable time capsule, containing placeless field recordings.
Shards for a reconstruction of the world.
